Transform Your Health with Exercise and Nutrition
My fitness journey started late. I was never athletically inclined growing up, but once in college I got on the aerobics train and did hours of aerobic activity, but no strength training. In my early 30s, I stepped into my first gym - a YMCA - and was bitten with the bug! I knew I needed some guidance, so a few years later, I hired my first online trainer and he helped me within the first year finally start putting on some muscle! I became a firm believer in the importance of nutrition at that point.
I have worked with a few trainers along my journey, learning a lot from each, and they, along with the gratification I have found in pushing my own body to limits that I never thought I would have when I was in my 20s, inspired me to become a personal trainer and nutrition coach. Nutrition is truly the key to your performance in and out of the gym. Many people spend long sessions in the gym, but never feed their bodies in a sufficient way to see results, while others spend countless hours in the gym doing cardio to lose weight, and eat sparingly throughout the day, thinking they are going to lose the weight, but in reality are only losing water weight and muscle.
My goal is to help you see the importance of balanced nutrition, and that there is truly no such thing as "bad" food … it is a matter of eating well balanced meals and making better choices throughout the day, prioritizing protein intake, carbs (your body's preferred source of energy) and fat - yes, FAT! Our body needs a certain amount of fat in the diet in order to maintain a lot of our bodily functions, including producing hormones and maintaining healthy cells. Coupling balanced nutrition with a solid strength training and cardio program, along with tips to stay active throughout the day, will enable you to boost your metabolism and gain life-enhancing muscle for the long-run.
